Groups and Membership

The group membership management function can be easily accessed from either the 'Administer Group' tab on the group home page or from the manage membership button at the bottom of the left sidebar on the membership page.

Membership States

A group membership is in one of three states: pending, blocked or active.

A pending membership is a request waiting for the group organizer to approve before being granted access to group privileges. Until approved, this user has the same access as a non-member.

A blocked membership is either a request that has been rejected or a former member who has been ejected from the group. A blocked user is a non-member and will not be able to issue a new request to join.

An active membership gives that person all the rights to view, create and edit content according to the rules established by the group organizer.

Membership Roles

An "administrator member" is a member of the group who has group administration privileges. He or she will see an "Administer group" tab on the group home page from which they can manage the membership, define new taxonomy terms, or review the Content Visibility report. The creator of the group is automatically an administrator, but at least one other member should be designated to share the responsibilities

Performing Actions

The group organizer may perform actions on one or more memberships from this page. The organizer may grant or revoke the administrator member role, change the membership state, or remove the membership entirely.

Check the box to the left of one or more membership rows. Checking the box in the header row will select all memberships.

Select an operation from the dropdown box.

Execute the operation.
