Process

A person who is not affiliated with one of the CSCU colleges or universities may be sponsored for access to Commons. The unaffiliated individual (a guest) is sent a link to a web form to request a sponsored guest account. Once approved by an existing faculty or staff member (the sponsor), the guest will be granted limited usage of the Commons website. Guest users can only see content in groups to which they have been explicitly added.

Eligibility

Sponsored guest accounts are available to anyone who is not a current faculty or staff member of any of the CSCU colleges or universities. Current faculty and staff members can get full access to Commons by using their institution credentials to log into Commons -- if they don't have an account in Commons, then one will be created for them upon their first successful login.

Commons members who sponsor students, contractors or vendors as guests should be aware that they are sponsoring access to a protected site and must ensure that the community's privacy is respected and that access is appropriately granted to responsible people under appropriate conditions..

See the Guest Accounts section of the user guide for information on how to sponsor a guest to your group.
